JOE NEMECHEK HOPES TO REPEAT CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY SUCCESS

Gaffney, S.C. (May 23, 2018) – Joe Nemechek, driver of the No. 15 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet Camaro, is excited to race Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) this Saturday in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Alsco 300.

Charlotte Motor Speedway in one of the many tracks where “Front Row Joe” Nemechek has been to Victory Lane. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Nemechek has one win, four top-five finishes, eight top-ten finishes, and one pole award, as well as two top-five finishes and five top-ten finishes in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at CMS.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway is always a special race for all of NASCAR,” said Nemechek. “I’m very excited to be back behind the wheel of my No. 15 Chevy, and it’d be great to give my JD Motorsports team an excellent finish this weekend.”

NASCAR Xfinity Series practice at Charlotte (Nc.) Motor Speedway is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. (ET) Thursday. Qualifying will start at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, and the Alsco 300 will get the green flag at 1:00 p.m. (ET) on FS1.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 7, 2018) – Ross Chastain has proved once again that the “Monster Mile” of Dover International Speedway is friend to him and team JD Motorsports with Gary Keller. Chastain came home in 16thplace in the NASCAR Xfinity Series OneMain Financial 200.

Chastain’s  No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro carried the “Protect Your Melon” message once again at Dover, the third year in a row that team JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has teamed up with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) to encourage race fans to buckle up and drive safe.

“From how we practiced on Friday, we made a lot of big improvements,” said Chastain. “My No. 4 guys swung everything they could at the car, and it paid off. The first run of the race was really good, and we were able to maintain with the changing track. We had good pit stops and a lot of commitment from the guys behind the wall. All in all, it was a great race for us. I’m proud to carry the ‘Protect Your Melon’ message on the car, and hopefully we encouraged some race fans to buckle up on the way home.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will take a two week break before the next race, the Alsco 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 26th, 2018.

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 7, 2018) – NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie driver, Vinnie Miller, had a great weekend at Dover International Speedway. Despite having never raced at the “Monster Mile” before, Miller came home in 22nd place in the OneMain Financial 200.

Miller’s day started off great will a top-25 qualifying effort for the No. 01 Chevrolet Camaro team. Miller’s 22nd place finish is his best non-restrictor plate race finish so far in his NASCAR Xfinity Series career.

“This No. 01 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team had a successful weekend at the Monster Mile,” said Miller. “I am very happy with a 22nd place finish in my first start on the tough track. The whole team including, my spotter, Tyler Green, and driver coach, Landon Cassill, were able to keep me out of trouble and get me back on the lead lap. I couldn't have done it without them all and especially not without JAS Expedited Trucking, Flex Seal, and Hoist.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 7, 2018) – Joe Nemechek, driving the No. 15 Meding’s Seafood / Stockley Tavern Chevrolet Camaro for team JD Motorsports with Gary Keller, came home in 31st place in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race at Dover (De.) International Raceway.  

Nemechek started the OneMain Financial 200 in 39th place, but quickly worked his way up into the top-25. Unfortunately, he had to visit the garage for the team to fix an issue before mid-race.

“This was a tough weekend for the No. 15 team,” Nemechek said. “I had a great car and was running some great laps, but we had to visit the garage and that put us behind. I’m very thankful to Meding’s Seafood and Stockley Tavern for all of their support this weekend. Johnny Davis (team owner) and I had a great time visiting Meding’s on Thursday, and I’ll definitely be back there for some of their seafood specials.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 7, 2018) – After having a great start to the NASCAR Xfinity Series OneMain Financial 200, Garrett Smithley was relegated to a 32nd place finish after a rear suspension failure late in the race at Dover International Raceway.

Smithley made it to round two in NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying, and his No. 0 Meding’s Seafood / Stockley Tavern Chevrolet Camaro started the race in 23rd place. Smithley ran in the top-20 for most of the day and led the race for two laps.

“This finish is a tough one to swallow,” said Smithley. “This was the best car I’ve ever had at Dover, and we were on our way to a top-20 finish. I’m very thankful to Meding’s Seafood and Stockley Tavern for coming on board. We’ll have a couple weeks to look over everything, and the ‘Number Nuthin’’ team will come back stronger at Charlotte.”

This will mark the third year that team JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has teamed up with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) to encourage race fans to buckle up and drive safe.

Chastain has raced at Dover in the NASCAR Xfinity Series six times and has had some really strong runs, including one of his career-best qualifying efforts of 11th place. Chastain also made his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series debut last year at Dover, finishing an impressive 20thplace.

“The whole No. 4 team is ready to put Talladega behind us and move on to one of our favorite races of the year,” said Chastain. “This partnership with the OHS has grown into such a cool program. This will be Miller’s first time racing at the “Monster Mile,” but he hopes that past experience at similar concrete tracks and help from his driver coach, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Landon Cassill, will translate into a successful weekend for the No. 01 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet Camaro team.

“I’ve heard a lot about the Monster Mile and how tricky it is to get around the one-mile track,” said Miller. “I’ve been preparing all week, met with my driver coach Landon yesterday, and I’m looking forward to getting to Dover (International Raceway).  I’m excited to go out there and figure it out; I’ve always been a fan of concrete tracks so it should be a fun weekend.  I know the guys on the JD Motorsports team with Gary Keller have a good Camaro ready for us so hopefully we will have a successful weekend.”

GAFFNEY, S.C. (May 2, 2017) – The No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro of Ross Chastain will carry the familiar theme of “Protect Your Melon” for this Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series OneMain Financial 200 at Dover International Speedway. This will mark the third year that team JD Motorsports with Gary Keller has teamed up with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) to encourage race fans to buckle up and drive safe.


“There are way too many people who lose their lives in traffic incidents by not wearing their seat belts,” said Johnny Davis, owner of JD Motorsports. “If just one person can see this message a buckle up their seat belt, then we have done our jobs. I’m very thankful to the OHS for continuing to use my team to share this important message.”

OHS will continue to employ a comprehensive marketing approach to engage with racing enthusiasts and loyal NASCAR fans through on-track, hands-on, traditional, digital and social media messaging during the NASCAR season.

“We are excited to once again partner with JD Motorsports and Ross Chastain, to raise awareness for seat belt use in Delaware,” said Jana Simpler, Director of the Delaware Office of Highway Safety.  “The Protect Your Melon initiative not only involves our partnership with Ross, but statewide implementation with  Dover International Speedway,  Carvertise, and Melon1.”

The Protect Your Melon marketing campaign features the occupant protection safety message on the No. 4 car, venue signage at Dover International Speedway, Carvertise wrapped vehicles with the same design touring the state, and stickers placed on over 1 million watermelons distributed in the state of Delaware by Melon1.   

“Dover is a race that I always look forward to, and this partnership with OHS is a big reason why,” said Chastain. “It is awesome to have a partnership that lets me promote two causes that are close to my heart -- safe driving and agriculture. We’ve had a lot of fun and accomplished a lot with the 'Protect Your Melon' campaign over the last two years, and I’m excited that we can keep it going."

Chastain, the OHS, and the No. 4 “Protect Your Melon” show car have a busy week in store which will include visits to Milford High School, the Giant Eagle store in Rehoboth Beach (De.), Nemours Children’s Hospital, Dunbar Elementary School, and the Dover Air Force Base.
